There are very few dangerous
locations around the Gower Peninsula, but if you are new or visiting the area
and not aware of some dangers. One of the main callouts we get at Rhossili is
people getting cut-off by the tide on the Worms Head in Rhossili, which attracts
thousands of people to the area every year. This particular incident could easily
be avoided if people checked the tide time tables, which are displayed in the
window of the coastguard station in Rhossili as well as being available from
most shops around Gower, but if people are still unsure you could always ring
the Coastguard Station in Swansea (0870 6006505) for any further information,
if you do decide to cross the casueway to the Worms Head the general rule is
that you can cross two hours either side of low water. A clear message from
the coastguards is that if you do become stuck on the island just try and attract
attention from people on the mainland or if you have a mobile phone ring 999
and ask for the coastguard who will rescue you off the island, but DON'T TRY
AND SWIM across from the island as it claimed many lives before.

allows people to walk across to the Worms Head

is makes it very dangerous as it usually has a very powerful swell
